My trophy cabinet

ree

Sometimes moments become your most treasured trophies. You don’t need a glass cabinet to keep them as they have found a place in your heart. This is one such moment with one of the greatest cinematographers of our country. I am not mentioning the name as it would be too naïve of me to assume that people from industry wouldn’t recognize him.

This photograph was taken in Prague while filming out on the streets on sets of the movie titled, ‘Meenaxi’. This was my debut film as an assistant director and God! What a learning experience it was with all the industry stalwarts. Masters in their craft they offered so much to learn and boy how I grabbed it!

In the hindsight, I also think about a few dumb things I did…like getting upset with the producer. Just think about it,… a fresher making his debut and acting pricey with the top echelon far, far, far….far superior to me not just socially but also professionally, I got upset with someone who gave me my first movie break , I mean how can someone be more stupid but then looked at my reflection…

But now after a couple decades,as an experienced professional and a man, who has seen it all and done it all…well almost! I realize that the mistake was distinctly innocent, very childish and to an extent funny also… almost as if I was denied a candy or asked to finish my homework when I didn’t want to. The respect, affection and gratitude were still pure as nectar and firmly in place, in fact they still are, heavily loaded with emotions and more solid than ever…

There must be many more memories with many more people I worked with, broke bread with, laughed with and of course got upset with from this time and years after this but that we will keep for later, for now this little slice of my life should be a good a read…do let me know:)

Also keep in mind that this little piece is not an apology with flowers and bells but a realization of how I could have been different with many other people in life and could still remain a part of their lives…may be next time:)
